ABOUT KWERTY
A typing speed game with personality โ free, fast, and built for people who type for a living.
The product
WHAT IS KWERTY.SITE?
Kwerty is a free, browser-based typing speed game launched in January 2026. It runs entirely in your browser โ no account, no download, no paywall. You type phrases, get a real WPM score (using the standard 5-characters-per-word formula), and can compete on a public leaderboard if you want to.
Three game modes power the experience: Rush (timed 30s or 60s sprints), Survival (endless โ mistype and you die), and the Daily Challenge (same words for everyone, one attempt per day, Wordle-style streak tracking). On top of that, a 20-level campaign walks beginners through progressively harder word packs.
The intended audience is anyone who types regularly and wants to get measurably faster โ software developers, students, customer-support folks, writers, people learning English on the keyboard, and the occasional speedrunner trying to break 120 WPM on the public board.

WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT
Specific features that set Kwerty apart from the standard typing-test template
DAILY CHALLENGE
Same words for everyone, one attempt per day. Wordle-style streaks. Built around the fact that 10 minutes a day beats a marathon practice session once a week.
INTERACTIVE FINGER GUIDE
On /touch-typing โ a live keyboard that shows which finger should press each key, highlighting in real time as you type. Designed for visual learners who keep forgetting which finger handles 'C'.
15+ ANIMATED THEMES
Cyberpunk, matrix rain, sakura petals, neon city, more. Typing tests should not look like spreadsheets. Each theme has its own visual effects and palette.
CHALLENGE LINKS
One-click shareable links to send anyone a head-to-head typing challenge. Compare WPM, accuracy, and combos.
REAL WPM, NO GIMMICKS
Standard 5-characters-per-word formula โ the same calculation every serious typing test uses. No score inflation, no padding. What you see is what you typed.
ZERO PAYWALL
Every mode, every theme, every feature โ free, with no account required. No sign-up walls, no premium tier. There is no premium tier planned.
WHY KWERTY IS BUILT THIS WAY
A few opinions that shaped the product
TYPING PRACTICE SHOULD FEEL LIKE A GAME
Most existing typing tools feel clinical โ white backgrounds, gray text, the energy of a tax form. Kwerty leans the other way. Streaks, themes, combos, sound โ the kinds of small motivational hooks that make you actually want to come back tomorrow.
THE MOMENT YOU ASK FOR AN EMAIL, THE FUN STOPS
No sign-up. No account. No 'create a free profile to save your progress.' Your progress is saved locally in your browser. The leaderboard is anonymous by default. If a tool is going to make you better at something, it should not gatekeep that with a form.
ACCURACY FIRST, SPEED FOLLOWS
Every typing instructor says it; almost no typing tool actually rewards it. Kwerty's scoring weights accuracy heavily so the path of least resistance is also the path that actually makes you better at the keyboard.
THE GAME PAGE STAYS CLEAN
No ads on /play. The page where you actually type stays distraction-free. Display ads, when they eventually run, will only ever live on the content / article pages.
Made by
Kwerty is built and maintained solo by Soexya Khatiwada โ a software developer originally from Nepal, currently based in the UAE. The project started in early 2026 as a tool to improve her own typing while also learning Next.js and React, and was opened to the public soon after.
Built with Next.js 14, React, TypeScript, and Tailwind. Public leaderboard runs on Supabase. Keypress sounds are synthesized in real time with the Web Audio API โ no audio files. Deployed on Vercel.
